Your Guide to Moving California to Nevada
As an agent for North American Van Lines based in San Diego County, we are a full-service moving and storage company operating trucks nationwide. We offer a flexible program of long distance moving services built around your needs, while ensuring a best in class, high quality move. Our team of dedicated movers has been moving San Diego families safely to new homes across the country since 2008. As the North American Van Lines Agent of the Year in 2018, we are defined by a culture of providing exceptional customer service.
A long distance relocation requires planning, preparation and hard work. Whether you are leaving San Diego for Arizona, Texas or the East Coast, we are prepared to help you with each step along the way.
Moving Out of San Diego: How It Works
- Free in-home or virtual survey. We inventory what's moving, so your estimate is based on your actual shipment, not a guess.
- A written estimate. Interstate moves are priced mainly on the weight of your shipment and the distance it travels, plus any packing, crating, storage or special handling you choose.
- Packing and loading at your San Diego home. We protect floors and doorways, pad-wrap your furniture and sort out HOA, elevator and parking arrangements before moving day.
- Transport on the North American Van Lines network. You get a delivery window before your belongings are loaded, and one coordinator to call for updates.
- Delivery at your new home. We unload, place furniture where you want it and can unpack and remove the packing debris.
Full-Service Long Distance Movers
While some companies only offer specific packages, our long distance relocation services are as unique as our customers. If you prefer to pack your belongings on your own, let us know and we will come by and load them into the truck. Our long distance relocation movers will take them to your new location and systematically unload them so they will be easy to put into the proper places. If you have antiques or high value items, we have it covered with our specialty moving services.
If you choose not to handle a thing, our long distance relocation company can do everything from bringing the packing supplies to disconnecting the appliances. All you need to do is show up at your new residence. We will handle the rest.
Or if you prefer something in between, Oakley Relocation will help you create the perfect moving plan.
Interstate, Cross-Country or Within California?
A move to another state is an interstate move, and a coast-to-coast move is a cross-country move - we handle both. If you're moving from San Diego to the Bay Area, Sacramento or anywhere else in California, that's an intrastate move, which follows California's rules for household movers instead of the federal ones.
Your Rights on an Interstate Move
Moves across state lines are regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Before your move you'll receive the FMCSA booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move, and we'll explain your protection options: basic released-value coverage at no extra charge, which pays up to 60 cents per pound per article, or Full Value Protection, which covers the repair or replacement of lost or damaged items.
Getting ready? Our guide to preparing for a San Diego interstate move walks you through the weeks before moving day.
