Moving Out of San Diego: How It Works
- Free in-home or virtual survey. We inventory what's moving, so your estimate is based on your actual shipment, not a guess.
- A written estimate. Interstate moves are priced mainly on the weight of your shipment and the distance it travels, plus any packing, crating, storage or special handling you choose.
- Packing and loading at your San Diego home. We protect floors and doorways, pad-wrap your furniture and sort out HOA, elevator and parking arrangements before moving day.
- Transport on the North American Van Lines network. You get a delivery window before your belongings are loaded, and one coordinator to call for updates.
- Delivery at your new home. We unload, place furniture where you want it and can unpack and remove the packing debris.
Full-Service Long Distance Movers

If you prefer to pack your belongings on your own, let us know and we will come by and load them into the truck. Our long distance relocation movers will take them to your new location and systematically unload them so they will be easy to put into the proper places. Interstate, Cross-Country or Within California?
A move to another state is an interstate move, and a coast-to-coast move is a cross-country move - we handle both. If you're moving from San Diego to the Bay Area, Sacramento or anywhere else in California, that's an intrastate move, which follows California's rules for household movers instead of the federal ones.
Your Rights on an Interstate Move
Moves across state lines are regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Before your move you'll receive the FMCSA booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move, and we'll explain your protection options: basic released-value coverage at no extra charge, which pays up to 60 cents per pound per article, or Full Value Protection, which covers the repair or replacement of lost or damaged items.
